This one-day workshop is suitable for beginners and those with more experience
Workshop Details
Kawandi quilts, also known as Siddi quilts are made by the Siddi people of India. They are entirely hand stitched and are a great way of using up small pieces of fabric.
They have a unique construction starting with a base, a thin layer of wadding, and appliqué patches of fabric that start from the outside edge and work inwards to the centre. Running stitch is used to hold the patches in place and the edges of each patch are folded in. You will make a panel, approximately A3 size, exploring this therapeutic slow hand stitched, slightly addictive method.
Materials
Materials are not included in the booking fee.
Students Please Bring
The tutor will bring thin wadding should anyone want to add that into the construction of the patchwork - for a small cost (max £5) depending on how big a piece you use.
We advise that you do not buy any materials required for a course more than two weeks in advance, because occasionally a course is cancelled due to low enrolment.
