This two-day, onsite workshop is designed for a range of abilities including beginners. A basic understanding of fused glass and cutting skills taught on the Introduction workshop is beneficial but not essential
Further Detail
Bullseye coloured glass is made up from a variety of basic chemicals. Some are copper based others are Sulphur or Lead based. When some of the glass is combined with one another or with certain metal foils, the chemicals interact to create interesting results and colours and it is these reactive results that we will be exploring in this workshop to create original designs and Landscapes. You will learn more about the basic chemistry behind these reactive effects and how to use them to enhance your work.
Day 1: We will experiment, create and record a series of samples of reactions between different “coloured” glass. This will be fired overnight to enable us to share the outcome in Day 2. The samples can be used as jewellery pieces, developed into coasters or incorporated into larger compositions or landscapes in glass. We will use this experience further to create a larger Landscape in Glass during the second day.
Skills/Techniques Covered
Materials
Materials are not included in the booking fee. All materials will be provided by the tutor on this two-day course. The approximate cost of these will be £65, payable to the tutor during the course and will include all firing costs
