In this talk, Martin closes his series on late 19th century French paintings and artists.
In recent years the focus of Impressionism rightly extends to two great women artists whose work is now celebrated alongside their male contemporaries. Both Morrisot and Cassatt’s concerns are wonderful depictions of motherhood and children. Their art gives a unique insight into the world of Impressionism and the significance of this movement from the 1870’s and into the Post-Impressionist period.
Martin will provide a list of helpful books and links to further explore on a PDF following the talk via the blackboard.
The talk will last for 60 minutes, followed by an open Q&A session.
