Wed 24th May 10am - 12pm
(UK timings)
This LivePlus™ online workshop is suitable for students of all abilities. There will be elements of work-along during this workshop, so we would encourage students to have their materials to hand, ready to participate live during the class.
Workshop details
Light on water, reflections & waves, rockpools & cliffs…..all the essential ingredients for a day at the coast! Combine acrylics with pastes, aggregates & gels in this fun workshop – we will create studies of the different coastal elements using a variety of materials, techniques and approaches.
Using a beach scene as our inspiration, we will look at the effects of different colour palettes on a simple composition, easy ways to depict water, waves and reflections, and the textures of sand & rocks.
Acrylics are perfect for using with a whole variety of other media, from polyfilla and pastes to things you can find in your kitchen cupboard! We will create an interesting surface, then use the paint both thickly and thinly to create different effects and layers while developing our image. Add some drawn and scribbled marks with oil pastels and a bit of spattering to create a lively loose image.
Specific skills you will learn at the workshop

Additional Information
All Ardington ONLINE classes and talks are accompanied by their own online blackboard. Helpful and easy to use, they enable students and tutors to share resources, ideas and photos with each other – just as you would in a classroom environment.
Karen will offer personalised critique / feedback via the blackboard for any work uploaded by students within thirty days of the class ending. You will be sent the link to access your blackboard in the week before your class begins and will have access for at least sixty days after the class ends.
After the live session has finished on Zoom, we will share the link to view the recording on the blackboard. You can watch the recording as many times as you like for sixty days.
We suggest that you do not buy any specialist materials more than one week in advance as, occasionally, a class may be cancelled due to low enrolment.
