Workshop details
In a world where communication is largely driven by technology, the art of writing can often seem irrelevant, but the beauty of a handwritten card or note is timeless. Come and explore the fascinating world of Brush Pen Calligraphy with our brand-new tutor Sai Banerjee, an experienced Calligrapher and teaching artist.
In this three-hour workshop, you will learn the basics of hand lettering and Modern Calligraphy using a fudenosuke brush pen. Modern Calligraphy has a universal appeal, as it is a more flexible, accessible and playful version of traditional Calligraphy.
Sai is passionate about sharing the beautiful art of Calligraphy, not just for its aesthetic value, but because of its unique ability to help us remain completely focused and get into a mindful state of flow very quickly.
Throughout this class, Sai will be demonstrating the techniques you need, as well as offering feedback on your practice. There will be interesting tips and hacks to help you progress with your Calligraphy journey, as well as plenty of opportunities to ask questions. By the end of the class, you will have created your own hand lettered quote.

Additional Information
All Ardington ONLINE classes and talks are accompanied by their own online blackboard. Helpful and easy to use, they enable students and tutors to share resources, ideas and photos with each other – just as you would in a classroom environment.
Sai will offer personalised critique / feedback via the blackboard for any work uploaded by students within thirty days of the class ending. You will be sent the link to access your blackboard in the week before your class begins and will have access for at least sixty days after the class ends.
After the live session has finished on Zoom, we will share the link to view the recording on the blackboard. You can watch the recording as many times as you like for sixty days.
We suggest that you do not buy any specialist materials more than one week in advance as, occasionally, a class may be cancelled due to low enrolment.
