This one-day, onsite workshop is suitable for complete beginners and those with more experience
Workshop Details
The aim of the day will be to produce a contemporary laminated fabric covered lampshade in either a Drum or Empire shape. Using a fabric of your choice & completed with a hand rolled finish, embellishing further with trimmings if you wish. It is important that you email me directly at least 2-3 weeks before the workshop date with the shape and the size of shade you wish to make so that I can provide you with the necessary frames on the workshop day.
peta.dovecoteinteriors@gmail.com
It would be possible to use a piece of patchwork, embroidery, applique or Boro work, for example, to make your shade. Please email me directly to discuss the size of ‘fabric’ piece required – one you will need to prepare earlier!!
We will discuss the use of recycling old lampshade frames & other options available should you wish to experiment with double sided or clear laminates at a later date. If time permits, we will endeavour to make a small candle clip shade using paper, with a bias binding trim.
Skills / Techniques Covered
Materials
Some materials, including ring sets, adhesive tape & laminate will be provided by the tutor. The approximate cost of these will be £15-£20, depending on size & style of shade, payable to the tutor during the workshop.
Students - please bring with you:
AND any of the below but only if you have them. There is no need to go out & buy these as I will bring spares.
We advise that you do not buy any materials required for a course more than two weeks in advance, because occasionally a course is cancelled due to low enrolment.
