Workshop Details
Explore the idiosyncratic potential of the teapot with Debbie Page. The aim is to make 2 teapots which, whilst fully functional, have a certain ‘je n’sais pas’ about them. Families of teapots, Pig teapots, Elephant teapots – no holds barred!
Using straightforward pottery skills, we will take the traditional concept of the teapot and bend it a little. Our first teapot style will be a simple pinch pot teapot. The second style will explore the potential to adapt handles, lids, spouts and shape to suggest animals forms, again based upon the pinch pot teapot. Our final style of teapot will be slab built, using a template, incorporating texture. We will be working with a stoneware clay.
The teapots will be left with the tutor for firing and final transparent glaze application and will be available for collection from Ardington School of Crafts approx 4 weeks following the class. Pieces can also be posted directly to students for additional cost. Alternatively students may take their pieces home directly.
