This LivePlus™ online workshop is suitable for everyone. You needn't have the materials ready whilst watching this online demonstration – it is a time to watch, ask and learn.
Workshop details
This is the second in our exciting new series called 'Just One Thing'. Born from the traditional concept of 'single object studies', each class will explore one item in many different ways; an important lesson in observation for any student, but given a fun and informal twist!
Artists have been inspired by the beauty of pebbles across many disciplines from the tactile sculptures of Barbera Hepworth to the contemporary prints of Angie Lewin and the amazing pebble portraits of Justin Bateman.
We will follow in their footsteps and explore a range of projects in beautiful subtle colours using a variety of techniques and approaches, in this gentle soothing workshop. We will play with colour mixing and watercolour techniques to create textures and pattern, and look at making abstract compositions using shapes and mark-making.
And of course, one of the main joys of a pebble is its tactile qualities so we will make a small pebble stack from air-drying clay as an optional extra.
Absolutely no experience needed for this fun and informal workshop…..just gather a pile of pebbles and have a play!
Specific skills you will learn at the workshop

Additional Information
All Ardington ONLINE classes and talks are accompanied by their own online blackboard. Helpful and easy to use, they enable students and tutors to share resources, ideas and photos with each other – just as you would in a classroom environment.
Karen will offer personalised critique / feedback via the blackboard for any work uploaded by students within thirty days of the class ending. You will be sent the link to access your blackboard in the week before your class begins and will have access for at least sixty days after the class ends.
After the live session has finished on Zoom, we will share the link to view the recording on the blackboard. You can watch the recording as many times as you like for sixty days.
We suggest that you do not buy any specialist materials more than one week in advance as, occasionally, a class may be cancelled due to low enrolment.
