This one-day workshop is suitable for complete beginners and those with more experience
Workshop Details
First you will create a pattern on your fabric with acrylic paint and a potato and carrot. A fun and relaxing way to create your design. You will learn how to set up your machine for free motion embroidery and have a chance to practice your technique before embellishing your painted fabric with stitch.
Once all stitching is complete you have a choice of options to complete your textile artwork. Turn it into a small zipped bag, a phone case, coasters, brooches etc., or simply mount and frame as a picture.
Skills / Techniques Covered
Anne will show you how to use free motion stitching - suitable for those completely new to the technique or those in need of a refresher. You will also learn how to create a pleasing design printing with potato and / or carrot . There will be tuition on both print and stitch. You can create a small zipped bag a phone case etc the choice is yours. The piece can be finished adding further embellishment with buttons and beading if you wish.
Materials
Materials are not included in the booking fee. Some materials will be provided by the tutor. The approximate cost of these will be £5 payable to the tutor during the workshop.
Students - please bring with you:
NOTE:
The tutor uses 30cm square of hand painted cotton fabric - which she will provide - but if you prefer you may bring your own commercially printed fabrics – plain fabrics or those with marbled or graduated colours would work best.
We advise that you do not buy any materials required for a course more than two weeks in advance, because occasionally a course is cancelled due to low enrolment.

- Sewing Machine and manual - you must be familiar with the machine and know how to change feet.
- Darning foot and straight stitch foot for the machine.
- A selection of machine threads – minimum of white, black and grey but please feel free to bring other colours that you enjoy working with.
- Basic sewing kit, needles, pins, fabric scissors, tape measure.
