This one-day workshop is designed for beginners and those with more experience

Workshop Details

Introducing and following The Zentangle® Method, we will create a piece of art with a maritime influence known as The Mariner's Compass. During the creative process we will hand draw and use various 'tangle' techniques to enhance and decorate our compass design. Our finished piece will be flourished with cardinal pointers to the North, South, East and West. We will also learn more about the history of the Mariner's Compass and how it has been used for many centuries.

  • Using The 8 basic steps of The Zentangle® Method
  • Zentangle® Terminology
  • Instruction to create the layout of a Mariners’ Compass
  • Tangle styles and how to draw them
  • Techniques to enhance the tangles
  • History of the Mariner’s Compass

Materials
Materials are not included in the booking fee. 
  • Should you wish, there will be a kit available for you to purchase from the tutor for a fee of £8
    • Micron Pen 01
    • Graphite Pencil / White Chalk pencil
    • 2 x Tortillion
    • All Papers

Alternatively
Students Please Bring
  • A Black Pigma Micron 01 and other sizes & colours.
  • 1 mini graphite pencil or HB pencil
  • 1 White chalk pencil
  • 2 tortillion also known as a paperstump
  • A range of paper or card of varying types and sizes.
  • Coloured Pencils or brushpens to add colour if desired.
  • Helix Angle & Circle Maker or Compass*
  • 12” clear Ruler
  • Rubber
  • Sharpener
    • There will be an Helix Angle & Circle maker available to borrow on the day.if you do not have one.

We advise that you do not buy any materials required for a course more than two weeks in advance, because occasionally a course is cancelled due to low enrolment.
