This one-day workdhop is suitable for complets beginners and those with a little experience
Workshop Details:
A fun workshop creating little layered landscapes with collage and mixed media. Gather all your scraps of paper and a set of paints and oil pastels and prepare to play!
We will begin by exploring different approaches and starting points using photos and sketches as our inspiration. Then we will cut, stick, print & layer, add in a splash of paint, a flourish of linework and a smattering of spattering! Work backwards and forwards through the processes – this is a very forgiving way to create an image – until you have produced a series of small samples.
We will be working across several images simultaneously exploring colour, layering and mark-making, allowing for ‘happy accidents’! These can be used as inspiration for a bigger piece, sketchbook studies, or be little pieces of art in their own right – a perfect way to experiment with techniques and explore a theme through a mix of serendipity and intention.
A fun and informal workshop guiding you through a series of exercises to find new ways to get started and develop a body of work.
Skills / Techniques Covered
Materials
Materials are not included in the booking fee. Some materials will be provided by the tutor. The approximate cost of these will be £5.00 payable to the tutor during the workshop.
Students - please bring with you:
Inspiration to use as starting points (this workshop is about creating interpretations and stylized images, not painting a realistic landscape)
Paper
General
Printing
We advise that you do not buy any materials required for a course more than two weeks in advance, because occasionally a course is cancelled due to low enrolment.
