This talk looks at painters in Europe and the USA who were profoundly influenced by Ukiyo-e Japanese art.
Martin's looks at the art of France, Britain and USA during this crucial period and the many artists who were influenced by Japan. Since the early 1860's the art of the east profoundly changed the aesthetics of nineteenth century art eventually leading to modernism.
Martin will provide a list of helpful books and links to further explore on a PDF following the talk via the blackboard.
The talk will last for 60 minutes, followed by an open Q&A session.
