Workshop Details
Make a collection of Scandinavian inspired festive decorations for yourself, or to give as unique handmade gifts for family and friends using a few simple plaited basketry techniques. Many of the designs for these originate in Scandinavia and are traditionally made from Birch Bark. We will use easily available substitute materials, possibly including some recycled materials, to make different woven stars, hearts, reindeer etc.
Some of the designs are very quick and simple to make; others a little more complex but very satisfying to make. Once the methods of making each decoration are learned, students will go away with the skills to make more at home.
Polly will bring samples and examples of woven decorations for students to observe and photograph.
Skills & Techniques Covered
