Workshop Details
Spend a day learning how to weave a small basket using the Twined Basketry technique. Twining is a technique often used to make soft and flexible basketry forms, and in some respects it is related to tapestry weaving.
Work with materials including sisal, jute, hemp, flax and cottons to make a small basket in a day. You will learn the pairing weave and how to work several different colour patterns; or, alternatively, you can focus on creating a more textured surface on your small basket through the use of different types of material.
It is a slow technique, so depending on how fast you work and what scale you make your basket, you may need to complete your basket at home, but if this is the case you will receive plenty of demonstration and instructions on how to complete your work. Polly will bring a selection of Twined Basketry for students to observe.
