Talk details
This talk looks at the life and work of Raffaello Sanzio da Urbino, known to most as Raphael, one of the most important painters and architects of the High Renaissance.
Martin’s talk takes you to his birthplace in Urbino and to many of the greatest of his masterpieces, both in galleries and churches. His drawings are admired for their beauty of form, their grace and perfection of composition. The Neoplatonic ideal informed his work and we will look at the ideas and philosophies that are expressed in his prodigious output.
Martin will provide a list of helpful books and links to further explore on a PDF following the talk via the blackboard.
