Class details
In this workshop Janina will lead you through all the steps involved in painting this beautiful image of Le Consulat café in Montmartre.
Janina will start with a short review of the materials including paper, paint, pens and masking fluid. The emphasis is on painting (rather than drawing) so we will trace the image onto A4 watercolour paper, using carbon paper. We will then start the picture with some very simple pen line work and an easy sky.
The next stage will be use of masking fluid to mask out the white areas of the picture. The rest of the session will be involve adding more pen work, and more paint, looking for the details of the image and adding the shadows. Janina will also talk through and demonstrate different ways of tackling the lettering

Additional Information
All Ardington ONLINE classes and talks are accompanied by their own online blackboard. Helpful and easy to use, they enable students and tutors to share resources, ideas and photos with each other – just as you would in a classroom environment.
Janina will offer feedback via the blackboard for any work uploaded by students within thirty days of the class ending. You will be sent the link to access your blackboard in the week before your class begins and will have access for at least sixty days after the class ends.
After the live session has finished on Zoom, we will share the link to view the recording on the blackboard. You can watch the recording as many times as you like for sixty days.
We suggest that you do not buy any specialist materials more than one week in advance as, occasionally, a class may be cancelled due to low enrolment.
