Course details
Create multi-layered mixed media pieces of work on fabric incorporating collage, simple printing techniques, and some easy decorative hand-stitching. A fun experimental course, perfect for using up all those scraps of fabric along with your own printed and painted pieces of cloth.
In this two-part class, we will make our own printed cloth using handmade stamps, line and painted monoprints, and rubbing plates. Karen will demonstrate how these elements can provide shape, texture, and focal points. We'll also have a go at embellishing with decorative stitching, dimensional paints, and beads.
We will use our unique cloth in conjunction with found materials such as lace, scrim, lightweight papers, patterned fabrics to make our very own stitch-pots, book covers, wall art, or snippet rolls. An exciting course, packed full of demos & step-by-step instruction. No experience necessary!
Specific skills you will learn
- Making & using printed fabrics – types of cloth, paper & suitable adhesives
- Making your own simple stamps & rubbing plates
- Line & painted monoprints
