Course details
During this two-part workshop we will be exploring the techniques and tips of successfully drawing winter fruits and leaves in coloured pencil.
Coloured pencils are very under-rated as an art form, yet they are easy to manipulate, feel familiar to handle, and the resulting artistic successes are extremely satisfying. You will soon become “hooked” on this wonderful art media.
With good quality coloured pencils and smooth paper, this course is an enjoyable way to begin your journey or improve on what you already know. There is no mess, and no worry about using water and paint - it is delightful to do and not difficult to learn.
Jan will teach you how to use coloured pencils to create a 'painting' of Winter botanicals. We will study a different seasonal fruit or leaf in each session, and these will be confirmed closer to the time.
Specific skills you will learn
- How to use coloured pencils to create a 'painting'
- How to blend colour
- How to create shadow and light in the drawing
- How to create depth (three dimensional images) in your work
- How to remove unwanted marks
All Ardington ONLINE classes and talks are accompanied by their own online class page. Helpful and easy to use, these private pages enable students and tutors to share resources, ideas and photos with each other – before, during, and after class.
Jan will offer personal feedback for any work submitted via the class page within thirty days of the class ending. The link to access the page will be shared via email in the days leading up to the class.
We suggest that you do not buy any specialist materials more than one week in advance as, occasionally, a class may be cancelled due to low enrolment. For full terms and conditions, please click here.
