Session details
Wellbeing work-alongs are a new addition to the Ardington ONLINE programme; the perfect opportunity to take the pressure off, slow down, and indulge in a bit of ‘you’ time. These stripped back sessions are a step away from our traditional jam-packed classes; there'll be no handouts and, more importantly, no homework!
It’s too cold to be in the garden, so let’s bring the outside in with some happy houseplants! In this session we will take our inspiration from an array of amazing houseplants, from the humble spider-plant to exotic succulents and anything in between. Working with a combination of collage, paint, a bit of linework and a smattering of spattering we will create a whole windowsill full of fabulous foliage (and maybe a flower or two!)
There will be colour mixing demos, stylized interpretations of leaves and flowers, and some simple paper layering techniques. So gather your watercolours, gouache or acrylics – whatever you have, or prefer to work with – and have a fun session creating a collection of the most low-maintenance plants you’ll ever come across!
You can work along with Karen at a gentle pace – a template will be provided – or work from your own sketches or photos incorporating the materials and methods demonstrated. So grab yourselves a cuppa, turn off your phone and enjoy a peaceful afternoon playing with paint!
Specific skills you will learn
- Colour mixing for leafy greens
- Layering collage & paper elements
- An illustrative approach – simplifying and stylizing
Additional Information
All Ardington ONLINE classes and talks are accompanied by their own online class page. Helpful and easy to use, these private pages enable students and tutors to share resources, ideas and photos with each other – before, during, and after class. The link to access the page will be shared via email in the days leading up to the class.
We suggest that you do not buy any specialist materials more than one week in advance as, occasionally, a class may be cancelled due to low enrolment. For full terms and conditions, please click here.
