Course details
Following on from our previous eightfold pattern class, Samira is back to teach us more variations of the eightfold pattern and how they tesselate. Looking at a different set of variations, this class will appeal to previous students and new students - all are welcome!
We will begin by familiarising ourselves with the tools and a run through of the processes and practicalities involved with examples of potential outcomes. On a blank sheet of paper we will then draw a series of lines and circles to construct the underlying grid. From this underlying grid a range of variations can be drawn. We will outline and trace several variations.
Samira will demonstrate how any of the tracings can be transferred and tessellated seamlessly. Finally, we add a contemporary feel to these pattens by bringing them to life with watercolours and gouache on watercolour paper.
Specific skills you will learn
- Constructing Islamic Geometric Patterns using a compass and a straight edge
- The practicalities of outlining, tracing, transferring and tessellating an Islamic geometry pattern seamlessly
- Techniques to render in Islamic Geometric Pattern in Watercolours & Gouache
All Ardington ONLINE classes and talks are accompanied by their own online class information page. Helpful and easy to use, these private pages enable students and tutors to share resources, ideas and photos with each other – before, during, and after class. The link to access the page will be shared via email in the days leading up to the class.
We suggest that you do not buy any specialist materials more than one week in advance as, occasionally, a class may be cancelled due to low enrolment. For full terms and conditions, please click here.
