Class details
Join Karen for another exploration of monochrome media, using the winter landscape as our theme.  Following on from her 'Not Quite Black & White: Charcoal & Pastel' class in January, this time we'll be experimenting with different types of ink including water-soluble, water-proof and bleachable in all it’s many forms from pens and liquids to solid ink blocks. 
 
Explore creative mark-making and the use of various tools (some homemade) and different surfaces, to create interesting and atmospheric effects. Try out some more unusual ways of using the materials working on textured grounds, creating resists and painting with bleach, along with some spritzing and spattering!  The range of effects can be interesting and sometimes unexpected!

We will be working mainly in black & white with just a hint of colour using winter as our inspiration.  This is a stand alone class - you don't need to have attended the previous 'Not Quite Black & White' class to join in.
 
A fun workshop with lots of step-by-step instruction – no experience needed…..just a willingness to get messy!

Specific skills you will learn
  • Experimenting with different inks: Acrylic & Indian Ink, Pens, Blocks, & Quink
  • Exploring mark-making using a variety of tools from ‘cola pens’ to fingers, feathers, & sticks!
  • Using resists, salt, & bleach
