Talk details
It goes without saying that colour is an essential element of art. Used throughout history, artists use colour to describe a subject, to create mood, and to convey meaning through cultural connections and resonances.
In this three-part series, Martin will explore the traditional primary colours of red, blue, and yellow in greater depth. Each talk will focus on a particular colour, and will look at the materials available to artists over the centuries, whilst helping us to understand the powerful associations between colour and meaning.
Martin will provide a list of helpful books and links to further explore on a PDF following each of the talks via the class information page.
