Class details
Working with images of old decaying buildings in the landscape, we will look at combining acrylics with texture pastes and collage in this fun experimental workshop. Acrylics are perfect for using with a whole variety of mixed media, from parcel packaging and book pages, to polyfilla and texture pastes.
In this session we will create an interesting surface to work on using both pastes and collage material, then use the paint both thickly and thinly to enhance the different layers while developing our image.
Add some drawn and scribbled marks with oil pastels or water-soluble crayons for a splash of colour and change of mark, and details with dip pen or acrylic paint pens. Finish off with a bit of spattering to create a lively loose image.
This is a very forgiving way of working – layer, re-work, paint, and stick….if you don’t like something just cover it up! This class will be fun and informal, with the option to work alongside the tutor at various stages if you want to. No experience needed, just a willingness to get messy and ‘have a go’!
Specific skills you will learn
- Creating textured grounds with collage and pastes
- Using the paint thick/thin & transparent/opaque
- Combining acrylics with other media
