Course details
Next up in our Printing without a Press series, explore the wonderful world of printing from food packaging! We’ll create two different sorts of printing plates – one on plastic for drypoint etching (family-size dessert containers are great for this!) and one on laminated card for cut-out relief prints (the inside of juice cartons work well).
Once we’ve made our plates using simple techniques and tools, either to your own designs or from the templates provided, we’ll go through different inking methods from black & white to full colour. Then the exciting bit – getting your prints on paper – a metal spoon, a bit of muscle power (you’re going to be the printing press!), and tips on how to achieve a sharp image.
The prints can be further enhanced with watercolour washes and pen and ink work to create a lively mixed media image.
A fun and versatile process that can be done at home with a minimum of specialist materials!
Specific skills you will learn
Additional Information
All Ardington ONLINE classes and talks are accompanied by their own online class information page. Helpful and easy to use, these private pages enable students and tutors to share resources, ideas and photos with each other – before, during, and after class. The link to access the page will be shared via email in the days leading up to the class.
We suggest that you do not buy any specialist materials more than one week in advance as, occasionally, a class may be cancelled due to low enrolment. For full terms and conditions, please click here.
