This one-day, onsite workshop suitable for a wide range of abilities including absolute beginner
Workshop Details
Under the expert eye of Quentin Smith you will use simple marquetry techniques to make attractive pendants or key fobs using natural and dyed hardwood veneers. Using little more than a craft knife, tape and glue, students will design geometric patterns, cut these from attractive wood veneers and assemble the resulting patterns onto small MDF shapes which can be completed as either jewellery pendants or key fobs. Students familiar with the “Window Method” for marquetry may choose to make a more complex design.

Materials
Materials are not included in the booking fee. All required materials will be provided by the tutor. The approximate cost of these will be £10, payable to the tutor during the class.
Additional materials will be available to purchase if you wish.
The tutor may not have the facilities to take card payments for materials in the workshops. Please remember to bring cash or your cheque book if your course involves buying materials from the tutor.
Please Bring With You
No items are required, but you may wish to bring your own craft knife/knives for evaluation. A suitable knife will be available to borrow from the tutor, or purchase (£5, incl. spare blades)
We advise that you do not buy any materials required for a course more than two weeks in advance, because occasionally a course is cancelled due to low enrolment.

- Accurate veneer cutting
- Simple gluing/pressing/sanding & polishing
- Simple knotting
