Tutor: Sarah Moorcroft
10am - 4pm

This one-day, onsite workshop is designed for a range of abilities including beginners

Workshop Detail
Sarah will start the day by introducing you to the materials you will be using. She will run through of the order of the day explaining the processes and will demonstrate where needed. You will go on to develop your own design ideas with support. Sarah will teach you different ways to build textures, and interest in your artwork. This will give you the freedom to explore and experiment with different techniques under supportive guidance. You can use this to explore new ideas, get fresh inspirations, and to create work to use as backgrounds for embroidery or further embellishment. We will silk paint a base colour/design, and then use stamps to print over creating layers and textures to your work. You will come away with ideas and samples and (hopefully) a finished painting as well.

Skills/Techniques Covered
  • Stretching silk on a wood frame
  • How to work up a design on paper
  • How to transfer to design from paper to silk

  • How to fix the design
