Tutor Lin Kerr
10am - 4pm
This one-day, onsite workshop is designed for beginners with some basic experience of oil painting
Workshop Details:
Inspired by artists from Matisse to Winifred Nicholson & Mary Feddon; paying particular attention to Nicholson; we’ll paint a windowscape of small jars of wild flowers.
Nicholson was fascinated by light and the way shadows are coloured and reflections glint. We will have a number of tiny arrangements in glass jars to choose from, placed on a window sill against a suggestion of landscape. We will be using very thick paint and a limited palette.
Lin will demonstrate how to thicken your paint and how to paint the essence of a flower without the detail. Everyone should be able to take a complete or almost complete canvas home; as well as limited-palette swatches. The materials are supplied and the painting will be 10” x 12” (about 25cm x 30cm)
Skills / Techniques covered:
Materials:
All materials will be provided by the tutor. The approximate cost of these will be £10 payable to the tutor during the course. The tutor may not have the facilities to take card payments for materials in the workshops. Please remember to bring cash or your cheque book if your course involves buying materials from the tutor.
Please Bring With You
We advise that you do not buy any materials required for a course more than two weeks in advance, because occasionally a course is cancelled due to low enrolment.
