Tutor: Simon Sonsino
10am - 4pm
This one-day, onsite workshop is designed for a range of abilities, including beginners. This is an extension of Simon's 'Tools & Techniques' workshop so it is preferable to have done that workshop before attending this one
Workshop Details
In this workshop you will experiment with altering text in a number of ways to create various textures and will work through a set of new exercises creating abstract letterform and multi-coloured layers with different mark-making tools. You will be working toward a finished piece of work.
You don’t need any calligraphic experience as this isn’t a workshop that relies on straight lines, neat handwriting or legibility. Also suitable for people with experience in the lettering arts that wish to 'free-up' their style. You will come away with a series of inspirational samples as a reference for future work and the beginnings of a set piece. This is a pressure-free zone - no rules and no rights or wrongs. You will work on some new techniques from Simon's new bookTextual Art: Impact & Intrigue
Skills/Techniques Covered
Materials
Most materials will be provided by the tutor. The approximate cost of these will be £7.00, payable to the tutor during the course
The tutor does have the facilities to take contactless card payments for materials in the workshop.
Please Bring With You
You are more than welcome to bring your own pens, papers and inks to experiment with.
We advise that you do not buy any materials required for a course more than two weeks in advance, because occasionally a course is cancelled due to low enrolment.
