This online workshop is designed for absolute beginners through to intermediate level
Workshop details
Experiment with different types of charcoal, inks and a variety of tools – some homemade, some scavenged and some found - to explore creative mark-making and the use of resists, bleach, spritzing & spattering to create interesting and atmospheric effects.
Play, experiment, explore! Different types of charcoal and ink in all its forms (from biros to acrylics!) are wonderful, versatile mediums both individually and in combination with each other. A multitude of effects can be created; from fine delicate linework to rich velvety tones and dramatic contrasts.
Have fun making your own tools and getting hands-on (and messy - an occupational hazard with charcoal!) trying out some more unusual ways of using the mediums. We will be working on textured grounds, creating resists, and painting with bleach….the range of effects can be interesting and sometimes unexpected!
Working mainly in black & white, with just a hint of colour, this workshop uses the beauty of winter for inspiration. A fun session covering a variety of techniques with lots of step-by-step instruction – no experience needed…..just a willingness to get messy!
Specific skills you will learn at the workshop:
Equipment & Materials List:
