In this taster workshop, Gaynor will teach you the basics of how to write one form of this popular script in lower case (miniscule).
Gaynor will cover the use of the pointed nib, setting up your pen, writing position, learning letter forms for the script with pencil and pen, and letter spacing for writing words. Modern pointed pen cursive is very popular right now. In this taster workshop, Gaynor will teach you the basics of how to write one form of the script, in lower case (miniscule), with detailed instructions on pressure and release – the required technique for using the pointed pen. She will also demonstrate letter groups, alphabetical order, and writing words ready for you to practice at home using the handouts and exemplars she has created.
This workshop is the perfect lead-in for Gaynor's two-part workshop 'Modern Pointed Pen Cursive: In Depth' in February 2021.

There is no pressure to work alongside the tutor during this class, although you are welcome to if you wish. Our online classes are an opportunity to watch, ask and learn. After the demo you will be sent a link to watch the recording, which is available for 30 days; allowing you to work along at your own pace and at a time that suits you best.

- Zebra G or Nikko G pointed nib
- Pen holder
- Pelikan 4001 black ink or Rousy black ink
- Ruler
- HB pencil
- A4 or A3 pad Winsor & Newton smooth surface cartridge pad (70lb / 150gsm)
- Matches / lighter or some Wet & Dry sandpaper (for degreasing the nib)
- Slip on reservoir (optional but recommended for holding more ink)
- Small reel of micropore tape
