This four-part LivePlus™ online course is open to relative beginners (with a basic knowledge of at least one calligraphic hand) right through to advanced calligraphers looking to push their own boundaries.
Workshop details
The focus of this exciting four-part calligraphic course is to help you work on impulse, learning how to discover creativity through text and shape.
“A letter made up of lines is a very direct element. It is a character in a script. The movement and print of a pen or brush on paper is an expression of emotion. Line, shape and space dissolve in a subtle texture.
Any intervention leads towards another expression. A dialogue of lines and mutual line relationships.
Be open to the stimuli and learn to translate them into your personal work.”
Carry Wouters, 2021
In addition to the online workshops in this course, Carry will be providing personalised written feedback on the work of each and every student by email. This is a great opportunity for you to connect with a first-class calligrapher in a unique and engaging way.
Each week students will be set a creative task to complete which they will submit to Carry for her revisions and guidance. There will also be an additional project available at the end of week two for those that would like something extra to focus on during the two-week break.
Specific skills you will learn at the workshop

This list is for guidance only - you can improvise and source your own materials, either in advance or once you have seen the LivePlus™ workshop, giving you maximum flexibility to choose how you would like to approach this craft.
You needn't have the materials ready whilst watching the live demonstration – the demo session is a time to watch, ask and learn. After the demo you will be sent a link to the recording, which you can watch as many times as you wish for thirty days.
