Tutor Debbie Page
10am - 4pm
This one-day, onsite workshop is designed for beginners with a little experience through to more advanced levels.
Workshop Details
Under Debbie’s guidance, join this workshop to explore the potential of handbuilding with porcelain. Not for the faint-hearted!
This workshop will take on the technical challenge required to work successfully with porcelain. Porcelain is beguiling – it’s whiteness and translucency attract the eye and it has a fascinating history involving industrial espionage and cutting edge science. It helped to change the drinking habits of entire cultures and to shape an empire.
Notoriously difficult to work with; however with the right tools, the right guidance and the right project, it is more than possible to produce lovely work. We will be making small pieces, using pinching methods and slabs of clay. Texture works very well on porcelain so Debbie will show you how to apply texture by impressing and carving / piercing the porcelain.
Skills/Techniques Covered
