Tutor: Karen Carter
Wed 28th April 10am - 12pm (UK time)
This LivePlus™ online printing workshop is ideal for beginners and improvers. This workshop is all about learning a fun and versatile process – no experience needed.
Workshop details
A fun low-tech version of drypoint etching that you can do at home without a press. Working on a small scale, with the minimum amount of specialist materials, Karen will show you how to produce a selection of plates and prints using a dessert spoon and a bit of elbow grease!
You’ll create three different sorts of plates – one on plastic (family-size dessert containers are great for this!) and two on laminated card (the inside of juice cartons work well)….one of these will be predominantly linework, the other will explore tone and texture. You can make plates to your own designs, or from the templates that Karen will provide.
You’ll be taught different inking methods from simple black & white, progressing into colour using various techniques. Then the exciting bit – getting your prints on paper – a metal spoon, a bit of muscle power (you’re going to be the printing press!) and tips on how to achieve a sharp image.
Specific skills you will learn at the workshop
Equipment & materials list
Materials are not included in the course fee.
All the materials and equipment you will need are listed below. This list is for guidance only however - you can improvise and source your own materials, either in advance or once you have seen the LivePlus™ workshop, giving you maximum flexibility to choose how you would like to approach this craft.
You needn't have the materials ready whilst watching the live demonstration – the demo session is a time to watch, ask and learn. After the demo you will be sent a link to the recording, which you can watch as many times as you wish for thirty days.
