This LivePlus™ online workshop is ideal for those with some knitting experience who wish to learn the art of Fair Isle.
Workshop details
In this workshop, Rebecca will be showing you how knitting using Fair Isle techniques, with two contrasting coloured yarns, can add wonderful visual impact to your work. The Fair Isle pattern, which will be the main focus of the demonstration, is based on traditional stranded colour-work, which Rebecca has used in Isla, one of her own designs.

Materials are not included in the course fee. All the materials and equipment you will need are listed below.
You needn't have the materials ready whilst watching the live demonstration – the demo session is a time to watch, ask and learn. After the demo you will be sent a link to the recording, which you can watch as many times as you wish for thirty days.

- some of the different ways of holding your yarns
- looking at how to use dominant colours successfully in stranded colour-work
- how to read a Fair Isle chart which gives you a clear visual impression of how the colour sequences and patterns will appear
- looking at charts for both knitting-in-the round as well as working on straight needles
Techniques used in making the hat
- Long tail cast on
- Joining in the round
- Knitting in the round using two yarns
- Working with double ended needles for shaping the crown

- Pair of straight/or circular needles (appropriate size for yarn weight)
- 2 small amounts of contrasting coloured yarns
