This LivePlus™ online workshop is back by popular demand, and is ideal for beginners as well as the more experienced.
Workshop details
During this workshop Colin will teach you how to produce a lovely representation of these pretty and colourful cottages using waterproof ink and watercolour, also known as ink and wash. Have you ever wondered how to make your buildings and houses look realistic; how to draw in an accurate way using photographs as reference? Well, Colin will demonstrate in easy to follow, step by step ways, addressing these issues starting with tips on how to scale from a photo and what to leave out!
We’ll cover how best to ink over our pencil lines and spend time on different watercolour techniques. By the end of the class you’ll have the confidence and knowledge to be able to produce your own painting.

Materials are not included in the course fee. All the materials and equipment you will need are listed below. This list is for guidance only - you can improvise and source your own materials, either in advance or once you have seen the LivePlus™ workshop, giving you maximum flexibility to choose how you would like to approach this craft.
You needn't have the materials ready whilst watching the live demonstration – the demo session is a time to watch, ask and learn. After the demo you will be sent a link to the recording, which you can watch as many times as you wish for thirty days.

- A sheet of good quality watercolour paper preferably A3 or 1/4 imperial size and 300gsm
- Watercolour round paint brushes sizes 6, 8 and 10
- Watercolour paints (either tubes or pans) in the following colours: Burnt Sienna, Burnt Umber, Olive Green, Cadmium Red, Cadmium Yellow, Paynes Grey, French Ultramarine and Colbalt Blue
- Mixing pallet
- A sharp pencil
- Staedtler pigment liner waterproof pen sizes 0.05mm and 0.3mm (There are other brands, but make sure of the sizes - must be 0.05mm)
- Rubber
- Pair of dividers - not essential, but very useful
