This LivePlus™ online workshop is designed for beginners and improvers.
Workshop details
Clive will show you how to capture the beauty and essence of the sea using the wonderfully versatile medium of soft pastel. After discussing composition and loose preliminary drawing, you will be shown some simple and fascinating techniques of pastel application. These include using different areas of your hands and fingers to render the many textures of your seascape.
Clive will also show you how to fill your painting with light and atmosphere and also to create the illusion of distance.

You needn't have the materials ready whilst watching the live demonstration – the demo session is a time to watch, ask and learn. After the demo you will be sent a link to the recording, which you can watch as many times as you wish for thirty days.

- Tinted pastel paper (Clive will be using light blue Clairefontaine pastelmat)
- A decent selection of good quality soft pastels
- White pastel pencil
- Dark blue/black pastel pencil
- Small brush (1cm approx.)
- Soft putty rubber
- Masking tape
- Kitchen towel
- Wet wipes
