This two-day, onsite workshop is suitable for beginners and those wishing to refresh.
Workshop Details
If you are looking to start sewing with a machine but have little or no experience, then this workshop is perfect for you. By the end of this workshop you will understand how to determine clothing size and follow a basic commercial paper pattern, such as Vogue or Simplicity, and to make a pair of elasticated trousers with pockets. We will look at how to complete a toile (a garment made in calico-fabric used to adjust the pattern) and gain the confidence to make the trousers using a sewing machine.
You will learn through theoretical and practical instruction including key sewing and measuring techniques, garment adjustments, simple garment construction skills and how to work with easy fabrics. In addition, you will have the opportunity to discuss with the tutor any future projects that you have and take home a handout with images and instructions of how to sew the trousers.

Materials
Materials are not included in the booking fee. All materials will be provided by the tutor at the cost of approximately £15 payable to the tutor during the class. The tutor may not have the facilities to take card payments for materials. Please remember to bring cash or your cheque book.

We advise that you do not buy any materials required for a course more than two weeks in advance, because occasionally a course is cancelled due to low enrolment.
