Tutor Laura Walker
10am - 4pm
(Lunch provided 12.30 - 1.00pm)
This one-day, onsite workshop is designed for a range of abilities including complete beginners
Workshop Details
The Chemigram was established in the 1950s by Belgian artist Pierre Cordier. Chemigrams are an experimental piece of art where an image is made from photographic paper, a selection of reactants, developer and fix chemicals. These chemicals are traditionally used for black and white printing in a darkroom. In this workshop we will experiment with a selection of ILFORD photographic papers (warm tone & neutral). We will also develop our prints using two different ILFORD developers and one Rapid Fixer. This technique is very experimental and you can be as neat or messy as you like. We will also experiment with different resists for example, coffee, syrup, wax and cooking oil can all be used to stop the development / exposure.
Skills/Techniques Covered
Materials
Materials are not included in the booking fee. All materials will be provided by the tutor. The approximate cost of these will be £10, payable to the tutor during the day.
The tutor may not have the facilities to take card payments for materials in the workshops. Please remember to bring cash or your cheque book
Please Bring With You
We advise that you do not buy any materials required for a course more than two weeks in advance, because occasionally a course is cancelled due to low enrolment.
