Tues 10th August 10am - 12pm (UK time)
This online workshop forms part of our first ever Summer School and is designed to offer an introduction to acrylics and mixed media. No experience is necessary and you don’t need to be able to draw – this is not a botanical painting class!
Workshop details
Create a lively layered mixed media piece of work incorporating a variety of techniques including simple printing, drawn marks, a little bit of cutting & sticking, and of course, painting. This fun experimental workshop looks at stylization, colour and creative use of materials and tools to create an impression of an abundance of fabulous flowers & foliage.
We will look at creating a colourful impression of a summer garden using a variety of different media & techniques. We will paint, collage, layer & spatter, combining a range of approaches.
Using acrylic paints we will create loose simplified interpretations of flowers and foliage with the emphasis on big blocks of colour and tone. We will then add another layer of marks, pattern elements and linework with paint, printing and stenciling to start to create a complex surface.
This will be the backdrop for loose exuberant flowers – painted, drawn and collaged – to give the impression of a lush summer garden.
Specific skills you will learn at the workshop
Equipment & materials list
Materials are not included in the course fee. All the materials and equipment you will need are listed below. This list is for guidance only - you can improvise and source your own materials, either in advance or once you have seen the LivePlus™ workshop, giving you maximum flexibility to choose how you would like to approach this craft.
You needn't have the materials ready whilst watching the live demonstration – the demo session is a time to watch, ask and learn. After the demo you will be sent a link to the recording, which you can watch as many times as you wish for thirty days.
