This online workshop forms part of our first ever Summer School and is designed to offer an introduction to drawing buildings in both ink & wash and traditional watercolours. It is a great workshop for beginners and improvers alike.
Workshop details
During this workshop Colin will teach you how to produce a representation of the Bijoux Beads shop in Bath. He will explore both ink and wash as well as traditional watercolour.
You’ll learn how to make your buildings look realistic and how to draw in an accurate way using photographs as reference. Colin will demonstrate in easy to follow, step by step ways, starting with tips on how to scale your drawing from a photo.

You needn't have the materials ready whilst watching the live demonstration – the demo session is a time to watch, ask and learn. After the demo you will be sent a link to the recording, which you can watch as many times as you wish for thirty days.

Equipment & materials list
Materials are not included in the course fee. All the materials and equipment you will need are listed below.
- A sheet of good quality watercolour paper preferably A3 or 1/4 imperial size and 300gsm
- •Watercolour round paint brushes sizes 6, 8 and 10
- Watercolour paints (either tubes or pans) in the following colours: Burnt Sienna, Burnt Umber, Olive Green, Cadmium Red, Cadmium Yellow, Paynes Grey, French Ultramarine, Yellow Ochre and Colbalt Blue
- Mixing pallet
- A sharp pencil
- Staedtler pigment liner waterproof pen sizes 0.05mm and 0.3mm (There are other brands, but make sure of the sizes - must be 0.05mm)
- Rubber eraser
- Pair of dividers - not essential, but very useful
