Thurs 12th August 2pm - 4pm (UK time)
This online workshop forms part of our first ever Summer School and is designed to offer an introduction to silk painting and dyeing techniques. Suitable for everyone, including complete beginners.
Workshop details
We will examine at least two techniques in this Summer School workshop. One will be to make a silk scarf using simple iron fix silk paints which you can continue to use easily at home without needing to buy expensive equipment. The other technique will be an introduction to working with silk dyes which will then need to be steam fixed. You can find silk steam fixing services available by post such as at Rainbow Silks in Amersham.
A number of different Shibori style folding and binding techniques will be shown during the workshop and you are then free to design your own scarves or silk paintings using your preferred option(s). Because of the nature of the making processes, each one will be quite unique.
Specific skills you will learn at the workshop
