Tutor: Hanny Newton
Fri 13th August 2pm - 4pm (UK time)
This online workshop forms part of our first ever Summer School and is designed to offer an introduction to creative goldwork embroidery. Suitable for beginners and improvers alike.
Workshop details
Discover a creative approach to goldwork embroidery. Hanny will show you how, by learning the fundamentals of goldwork you can open up a world of possibilities to experiment and explore.
Hanny’s goldwork embroidery workshops are a balance of technique and experimentation, leaving ‘breathing space’ for you to find your own creative response to the historical techniques of goldwork. You are welcome to stitch along with Hanny, or watch the recording back and try the techniques in your own time.
By learning the foundations of techniques and methods of experimentation, you can find your own outcomes and have more ownership over how you use the techniques.
This workshop gives stitchers of all abilities the opportunity to explore the beautiful possibilities of couching and chipping, building up throughout the course a series of hand embroiderer samples and small pieces which can become a ‘tool kit’ of techniques to further your creativity and enhance your artwork
Specific skills you will learn at the workshop
