Speaker: Martin Beek
Wed 22nd September 2pm - 3:15pm (UK time)
ArtTalk details
Martin looks at many of the great painters who have depicted our island’s coastline in so many styles and approaches. This talk looks at great examples of painting from the time of the Spanish Armada to the modern era. Some of Britain’s most fascinating art naturally concerns the sea, its costal ports, shipping, naval battles and leisure and, where possible, Martin will show the artists own perceptions and visions of these places and the locations that inspired their art.
As always Martin sets the art in its historical context and will provide a list of helpful books and links to further explore on a PDF following the talk.
