Back by popular demand, this four-part online series is designed for those with a little calligraphic experience and knowledge, but less experienced participants are very welcome too.
Workshop Details
This exciting series focuses on developing intuition and personality in our calligraphy. Sharon's teaching style is nurturing and fluid, so expect the content of the workshops to evolve and develop to align with the needs of those of you taking part.
As calligraphers, we typically reach for familiar texts as we learn a new script. Rarely do we imagine that our own words are worthy of our beautiful writing, and thus miss opportunities to connect ourselves more deeply and personally with our calligraphy.
Through simple Haiku poems this class provides an opportunity to explore linking the words we write with a script we develop - our personal expressions amplified and illuminated through the drama of color and gold on black paper. In addition to developing a personal script, students will have the opportunity to create a single section, pamphlet style book of their ‘illustrated” haikus.
Sharon will teach you how to use gouache on dark papers, develop a personal script, and create a small book using a haiku that you will write.
Specific skills you will learn at the workshop:
Equipment & Materials List:
