We will explore principles of symmetry in stylised Islamic floral motifs and designs.
Students will be introduced to traditional paper preparation methods and will be shown how to make and paint with 23ct gold paint, traditionally known as ‘shell gold’. Students will then be taught the traditional halkar shading technique to paint and gild their own tulips inspired pattern or one prepared by the tutor.

This course is designed for a range of abilities including beginners with a little experience
Materials
Materials are not covered by the course fee. All materials will be provided by the tutor. The approximate cost of these will be £5 payable to the tutor during the course. The tutor may not have the facilities to take card payments for materials in the workshops. Please remember to bring cash or your cheque book.

- Selection of fine watercolour brushes, ideally sable (sizes no.000, no.0, no.1)
- Paint palette with wells (to continue painting at home)
- H, HB and B pencils, coloured pencils, pencil sharpener and eraser
- Optional sketchbook /notebook
