How our ONLINE programme works
Once you have chosen which class you would like to attend, you can book your place online, as you would with our onsite workshops. You will receive a confirmation email and receipt for payment immediately, and the joining instructions will be sent during the week leading up to your class.
Our online classes and talks are all delivered via Zoom video conferencing platform, which is really easy to access. All Ardington ONLINE classes and talks are accompanied by their own online blackboard. Helpful and easy to use, they enable students and tutors to share resources, ideas and photos with each other – just as you would in a classroom environment. Everything you need for your class will be shared via the class blackboard.
Details about whether or not you need to work along with the tutor are included in the class description. Some classes are just watch, ask and learn. For the best viewing experience, we recommend that you use a bigger screen such as a PC, laptop or iPad / tablet, but you can also join via smartphone (if you have great eyesight!)
It is up to you if you want to buy the materials and equipment in advance (these can sometimes be purchased directly from the tutor), or whether to source your own after you have attended the class. Many items are easily improvised and full details, including supplier lists, are provided in the class descriptions.
A few minutes before your session is due to begin, click the Zoom link* on your class blackboard to join us live online. The Ardington moderator will admit you to the virtual classroom to meet your tutor and your fellow students. During the class, the tutor will talk you through a series of live detailed step-by-step demonstrations, during which you can ask questions if you would like to.
After the class, a link to view the recording will be uploaded to the class blackboard. You can replay it as many times as you like, and follow along at your own pace, before it expires 60 days after the class ends.
Some of our workshops also include a follow up session; the feedback element of this session isn’t recorded, but it is an invaluable part of the Ardington experience. A great opportunity to come together with the rest of your class to share your creations and ideas and the perfect place to learn extra tips and tricks from the tutor and each other!
ArtTalks
Our ArtTalks are live masterclass talks, with interactive Q&A, given by experts in their respective fields. Delivered to small groups of students using Zoom video conferencing, they are designed to upskill your art appreciation and awareness in a range of subjects. We also hope they will prompt you to experiment and explore new avenues. A video playback service is provided for all of our ArtTalks; the perfect chance to catch up if you aren't able to attend a talk live.
Important note
Please check our terms and conditions which explain your responsibility regarding having a good internet connection and computer suitable to join an online course and play video.
*We recommend that you read our How to use Zoom page before your online workshop or ArtTalk.
