Privacy & Cookie Policy
This combined Privacy and Cookie Policy sets out our approach to how we handle any personal data that we collect from you, or that you provide to us. By visiting our website you accept and consent to the practices described in these Policies. We have tried to keep our Policies simple and in plain English as far as possible. You can find all the details in the seven key points below.
1. Data we collect from you:
Some personal data is given when you make a booking or enquiry, complete forms on our website, sign up for our newsletter or by corresponding with us by telephone, e-mail or otherwise. The data you give us may include your name, address, e-mail address and telephone number, your areas of interest, bank and payment card information.
On each visit to this website, our website provider (Weebly), automatically collects technical data, including the internet protocol (IP) address used to connect your device to the internet, browser type and version, time zone setting, browser plug-in types and versions, operating system and platform. Similar data about your visit is also collected by Google Analytics, as well as products and resources you viewed or searched for, page response times, download errors, length of visits to certain pages, page interaction information and any telephone number used to contact us. As some of our services are delivered by sub-contractors, such as for payment services, we may receive data about you from them such as your payment confirmation.
2. How we use your data:
We use your data to carry out our obligations arising from any agreements entered into between you and us, such as your course booking, or to provide you with the information, products and services that you request from us, as well as to provide you with information about other courses, events, and products and services we offer. We may also use your data in order to remind you of your upcoming course, notify you about changes to your course booking or other events, such as tutor illness, cancellation, required materials or time changes.
In addition, we use your data to ensure that our website content and newsletter information is presented in the most effective manner for you and for your device. Finally, we use your data as part of our efforts to keep this website safe and secure and to comply with any legal obligations arising.
3. Data storage:
All data you provide to us is stored on our secure servers with our website providers (currently Weebly) or their payment partners, our e-mailing provider (MailChimp) or our business software supporters (currently Microsoft Office 365). All payment transactions will be encrypted using SSL technology. We do our utmost to protect your personal data, but we cannot guarantee the security of data transmitted to this website as transfer via the internet is not completely secure; any transmission is at your own risk. Once we have received your data, we will use strict procedures and security features to prevent unauthorised access. We store data for the minimum time required under tax and VAT laws. After that, it is deleted from our systems.
4. Newsletters and Special Offers:
You have the right to ask us not to process your personal data for newsletter and special offers purposes, and this can be done at the time of making a booking or enquiry. We NEVER give or sell your data to any other organisations for their sales or marketing purposes. Our newsletters (a maximum of two per calendar month), include information about upcoming courses and workshops, special offers and sale reductions, new tutors and events, such as our open studio ArtWeeks, or our charity fund raising events such as the Prize for Schools and our Winter Fair. Our newsletters are sent through MailChimp (a very popular e-mailing manager system) and have a 'double opt in' function built in, which means that you have to add a second layer of consent to receive them. We have also built in a very simple 'Unsubscribe' function which you can operate at any time. You can also unsubscribe at any time by contacting us via the contact form on this website, or by telephoning 01235 833433.
5. Access to your data:
You have the right to access data held about you. Your right of access can be exercised in accordance with this. Any access request may be subject to a fee of £15 to meet our administration costs in providing you with details of the data we hold about you.
6. Changes to our Policies:
Any changes we may make to our Policies in the future will be posted on this page and, where appropriate, notified to you by e-mail. Please check back frequently to see any updates or changes to our Privacy and Cookie Policies.
