Workshop details
When we learn to look like an eagle, we are able to find inspiration everywhere! The focus of this exciting four-part calligraphic course is to help you look harder, deeper and more authentically at your own work to create the best possible compositions.
As with all of Carry's courses, the content is tailored to the group as we go along, so expect twists and turns along the way. You will be challenged to look at text and to really see it for the first time.
“A valuable calligraphic work needs more than exhibiting splendid techniques.
In addition to the technical skill of the artist, we expect substantive depth. If we want to include authenticity in our work, we start with analyzing ourselves to find out what elements affect us personally: the text, the technique, the combination…
To make it even more personal, we develop a personal scripture that suits the content. We think of a composition in which additional visual elements are added. Not an easy task. The road is long and difficult.”
Carry Wouters, 2021
Further to the online workshop demonstrations in this course, Carry will be providing personalised, written feedback on the work of each and every student by email. At the end of the first three classes, students will be set a creative task to complete which they will submit to Carry for revisions and guidance. This is a great opportunity for you to connect with a first-class calligrapher in a unique and engaging way.
After each demo you will be sent a link to the recording, which you can watch as many times as you wish for thirty days.
