Workshop details
Explore the wonderful world of colour! Karen will take you through simple colour-mixing techniques to enable you to paint with confidence. Learn how to mix a huge range of colours from a small selection of paints, creating a set of mini pictures as we go.
We’ll start off with the absolute basics of colour mixing using just a small set of primary colours, creating a wide range of tints and tones – you will never need to buy lots of different tubes of paint ever again! From there we will explore harmonious and complimentary palettes and how to make a painting ‘pop,’ using a variety of exercises. From colour swatches to creative compositions – this is a fun way to play with pigments, learn a little colour theory and create some mini works of art along the way!
You can work along during the class in watercolour, gouache or acrylics – the choice is yours. The emphasis of this class is on understanding colour rather than specific paint techniques.
Specific skills you will learn at the workshop
