Tutor: Karen Carter
Wed 14th September 10am - 12pm
(UK timings)
This LivePlus™ online workshop is an ideal follow on for one of Karen's Introduction to Acrylics classes, but is equally suitable for beginners and improvers. No experience needed, just a big apron and a willingness to have a go.
Workshop details
In this two-hour workshop, Karen will show you how to use acrylics in their default technique - blocking-in & building-up. A fun and informal workshop guiding you through the principles of basic acrylic techniques that can be applied to any subject matter.
This class is all about using acrylics in layers….the easiest way to use them, without additives or mediums, taking advantage of their fast drying time. We will tackle visual blending & mark-making using different brushes, sponges, even fingers!
Working with a landscape image as a starting point, we will first cover the basics of composition, colour-swatching and preparation for a painting. Then, working on a coloured ground, we will build our image layer by layer. We will work through a series of stages, from the underlying structure to final finishing touches – including Karen's favourite things - a bit of spattering and a flourish of Posca (liquid acrylic) pen!
We would encourage you to have your paints ready to work along with Karen during the class, but you could also or choose to just watch and learn - the decision is up to you. All students will be given access to the recording of the class, which you can watch as many times as you wish for thirty days.
Specific skills you will learn at the workshop
Equipment & materials list
Materials are not included in the course fee. All the materials and equipment you will need are listed below.
